The energy-saving pans – made right behind the dike
Saving energy is becoming important again, for three reasons:
- Energy costs (a lot) money
- Climate change
- Resources are limited.
In almost every area of life, energy can easily be saved with a little effort, and the sum of many small individual measures can make a significant difference. Whether it's taking shorter and colder showers, driving slower and less often, or keeping the apartment 2°C cooler in winter, the possibilities are numerous and, with a little (adjustment) habit, painless. Energy can also be saved while cooking. Switch off the oven 15 minutes before the end of the cooking process, make use of the preheating phase, use lids on pans and pots, and so on.
The choice of cooking utensils also plays a crucial role. Who hasn't had pans on the stove that just wouldn't heat up, even with the power turned all the way up? This isn't just annoying because you can't cook a good chop or steak, but the energy waste is immediately noticeable. And a kitchen stove is no lightweight when it comes to energy consumption. 3.6 kilowatts, sometimes up to 7.5 kW, is quite common.
From the very beginning of developing our HIFFICIENCY® pans , we focused on ensuring they were as efficient as possible, meaning they consume very little energy. This is the core of our brand, even reflected in the name: Hi(gehst) (E)fficiency is the neologism Hifficiency, which translates to highest efficiency, or lowest energy consumption. Hence, energy-saving pan.
And how is that supposed to work? Quite simply, by the pans and baking trays heating up faster than conventional products and distributing the heat quickly and evenly across the frying, cooking or baking surface.
Many pans take two minutes or even longer to reach a frying temperature of 200°C. Good pans achieve this in one minute. The HIFFICIENCY® Multispeed® only needs 15-20 seconds. This saves energy and, of course, time. Measurements by an independent institute (TÜV Rheinland) have proven that HIFFICIENCY® pans save up to 65% energy compared to other good-quality pans. That means almost two-thirds cost savings with every cooking process. It also means that while you might have to wait a long time for a poor-quality pan to get really hot, with a HIFFICIENCY® pan, your steak will already be cooked. The same applies to the Multibake® and Griddle®, X-Cook® containers, our X-Bake® baking trays for bakers, and much more.

Because HIFFICIENCY® pans heat up so quickly, you have to turn them down in time, otherwise they'll get too hot. To ensure nothing bad happens, we've completely redesigned the Duraquarz® coating . It doesn't break down at excessively high temperatures; in fact, it can withstand temperatures up to 450°C, almost 200°C higher than PTFE/Teflon. And even at high temperatures, it doesn't release any toxic fumes that can cause lung cancer. That's why PTFE/Teflon is slated to be completely banned in the EU from 2024. Duraquarz® is PTFE/PFAS/PFOA-free; it contains none of these substances, making it a healthy coating.
Of course, cooking , frying , grilling , and baking should be fun, and the food should taste great. Try it out: it's truly a pleasure to work with Hifficiency products. They feel high-quality, look it, the searing and browning are fantastically even, nothing sticks, and cleaning is a breeze. Everything is dishwasher safe. And it's much more enjoyable when the pan doesn't warp on the stovetop and doesn't get hotter or colder too quickly when the temperature is changed. This works best with induction, of course. Incidentally, induction is still faster than gas these days. Good to know if there's no gas available.
A sustainable product requires more than just good functionality. The place of manufacture, the production methods, the materials used, the product's lifespan, working conditions, and so on – all these factors play an equally important role. HIFFICIENCY® products are developed and manufactured with an extremely high degree of vertical integration at acs in Wilhelmshaven. For us, development doesn't mean simply drawing designs and buying components from China, but rather genuine product development using innovative manufacturing methods and materials, backed by our own patents.
For us, production means not just assembly and packaging, but also embossing, welding, manufacturing coating materials, coating, and then finally, of course, assembling and packaging, including quality control. In short, production in the region for the region, without unnecessarily long transport routes, right on Kutterstraße behind the dike.
Whether it's AMT, AMC, Fissler, Hoffmann, Woll, Rösle, Olav, Onyx, or any other "pan manufacturer," none offer such an exclusive and broad vertical integration as acs with its HIFFICIENCY® program. We also save energy in our own production processes. Over the past four years, we've already halved our electricity and gas consumption, covered our roofs with solar panels, and are collaborating with research institutes on new solutions that use even less energy – up to 80% less. This is good for the environment and good for your wallet. This way, good quality doesn't have to be unnecessarily expensive, but can remain affordable.
