Baking without baking paper

In Germany, approximately 240 kg of baking paper is used per person annually – in bakeries, private households, and so on. If it were at least simple paper, recycling would be possible. However, baking paper is coated to create a non-stick effect and is therefore not recyclable. Furthermore, baking paper contains PFAS, perfluorinated substances, which are considered unhealthy and are therefore slated to be banned from 2024 onwards according to EU regulations. Baking paper is thus neither healthy for the environment nor for humans. Just like a Teflon pan.
